Since the beginning of the year 813 illegal immigrants have been ferried to Dover by the Border Force.
The majority of those have been escorted by the French navy into UK waters and then they are ‘handed over’ mid Channel and taken to Dover.
Once they arrive at Dover they are greeted with food, blankets and new clothing, before being ‘processed’. They are then loaded onto a Loyalty Connections coach and chauffeured to a four-star hotel.
268 illegal immigrants arrived in March with 115 of those arriving in one day which was a record figure for the number of arrivals in March. It is also the largest amount to arrive in one day as of yet.
Every month new records are being broken and it is most definitely nothing to celebrate.
The size of the dinghies that the illegal immigrants are now using are almost double the size of the majority that was used last year.
There are well over 62,000 illegal immigrants waiting to claim asylum currently being accommodated by the Home Office, the majority of those have been placed in various hotels all over the nation.
Just under 8,500 illegal immigrants arrived last year (2020) and if they continue to arrive as they are, it will be close to 15,000 new arrivals by small boat.
10 illegal immigrants have been convicted with ‘assisting unlawful immigration’ this year.
Some of the new arrivals are still being temporarily placed in Napier Barracks until the 2nd of April when the ex-military barracks will no longer house any illegal immigrants.
It seems that the weather is the only thing that can stop any new arrivals by boat.
The government have gifted the French nearly £200 million of taxpayers’ money in recent years to stop the illegal Channel crossings but they only appear to be increasing and at an overwhelming rate.
Priti Patel has said many times that she will make these illegal crossings ‘unviable’ and will give tougher ‘punishments’ to those who are involved in people smuggling.
Boris Johnson stated that the British Government will ‘ruthlessly’ clampdown on what he described as ‘thugs’ (which they most definitely are), risking lives in unseaworthy vessels. He said:
“It is outrageous that the gangsters, these people smugglers, these thugs are still putting people’s lives at risk in the way that they are… Taking money to help people cross The Channel in unseaworthy vessels, risking their lives… What we’re going to do is crack down on them absolutely ruthlessly and we will stiffen the sentences for anybody that is involved in people smuggling, trafficking of human beings across The Channel.”
