UK Gives France First Instalment To Stop Illegal Channel Crossings

06/11/2021

The UK government has paid the first instalment of the £54 million promised to France to stop the illegal Channel crossings.

This week the government paid France the first instalment despite Patel claiming to be hesitant due to the increased number of illegal immigrants completing the crossing.

In the same week the payment was completed, a staggering 1,309 illegal immigrants had arrived in just two days.

This year, there had been over 22,000 illegal immigrants that have arrived by boat.

Over eight hundred dinghies have arrived. Eight hundred twelve to be exact.

The majority that arrive are escorted by the French coastguard before being handed over to the UK Border Force or RNLI lifeboats.

The French claimed to have stopped over a 700 from completing the journey, however, there isn’t any evidence to suggest that is the case.
