Fire was started at a Stevenage hotel housing illegal immigrants at the taxpayer’s expense.

An illegal immigrant has been arrested on suspicion of arson and endangering life after a fire broke out in a hotel housing illegal immigrants in Stevenage town centre.

Police, ambulances and firefighters were called to the Ibis in The Forum just before midnight on January 1st to reports of a fire on the fifth floor.

Eleven fire engines and multiple police officers attended the scene and “crews worked extremely hard and quickly to extinguish the fire while assisting residents with evacuating the building,” a spokesperson for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

All staff and taxpayer-funded ‘guests’ were evacuated safely.

It is reported that a laundry bin was on fire on the fifth floor. The reason as to why is currently unknown.

A 26-year-old man (illegal immigrant) who is currently living in a Stevenage hotel has been arrested on suspicion of arson and endangering life and was held in custody.

The fire was extinguished and everyone currently living at the hotel was allowed to return at 3 am.

An investigation will now take place into the cause of the fire.

The Ibis Hotel is currently being used to accommodate illegal immigrants and has been for some time.

It’s been closed to the public. Staff find it very funny when the public enquire about the guests and fire.

Below is a clip from a member of the public contacting this hotel.
